Mr. Eaknarayan Aryal is the current Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal, appointed on 29 August 2024. He is a distinguished public administrator with around 34 years of exemplary public service. Prior to this prestigious role, he served as Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs. His career spans a wide range of high-level managerial and policy-making roles, including Secretary positions at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security (MoLESS), and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM). Additionally, he served as the Consul General of Nepal in Calcutta, India (2016-2020), and Chief District Officer (CDO) in various districts, including Kathmandu.

Throughout his extensive career, Mr. Aryal has displayed exceptional leadership in managing critical aspects of governance, including national security management, disaster management, administrative federalism, local governance, foreign trade and economic diplomacy, and public service delivery. His commitment to reform is evident in initiatives such as digitizing foreign employment services, expanding social security coverage, and enhancing the efficiency of the Civil Service Hospital and Tribhuvan International Airport’s immigration services.

Mr. Aryal has represented Nepal in numerous international forums, bringing a global perspective to his work. He holds Master’s Degrees in Public Administration, Political Science, and Sociology, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from Tribhuwan University, Nepal. His academic and practical contributions are well-regarded, with several of his articles published in various journals. Mr. Aryal has also undertaken extensive training across Asia, Europe, North America, and South Africa and is himself recognized as a trainer for high-level public servants in policy-making and management of service delivery.

Mr. Aryal’s contributions to public service have been recognized with prestigious national awards, including the Civil Service Prize (Excellent Category) and Suprabal Janasewa Shree (Third). He is known for his action-oriented, reform-focused approach and unwavering commitment to enhancing public governance and serving the citizens of Nepal.
